Wakehurst picked up another three valuable points on Saturday with an impressive 2-0 away win at Killymoon Rangers.
Both teams started cautiously with little action to speak of in the first 15 minutes. The first corner of the game went to Wakehurst on 18 minutes but the Killymoon defence cleared comfortably. On 25 minutes Wakehurst had a free kick taken by Stephen Mellon but his cross couldnt find a Wakehurst forward.
Wakehurst were taking control and piling on the pressure with three successive corners on 28 minutes but the breakthrough didnt come. Best chance came on 35 minutes with another corner and with both Conor Gregg and Jason Paul pressing on the Killymoon goal, they just couldnt get that vital final touch.
Killymoon's best effort came from no. 11 on 40 minutes but Marc Maybin was up to the challenge.
Wakehurst got the breakthrough in the first minute of the second half when David Gage made no mistake with a powerful header after good work by both Mark Crawford and Conor Gregg.
Killymoon had a couple of half chances on 55 and 59 minutes but the Wakehurst defence cleared well. On 60 minutes Killymoon almost equalised when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box but Marc Maybin held well under severe pressure from their no.9.
On 67 minutes Wakehurst increased their lead when a corner was saved by keeper Brown and the loose ball fell to Ryan Young who drilled the ball home to make it 2-0 to Wakehurst..
Killymoon had a couple of half chances towards the end of the half but the result was never in doubt and Wakehurst held firm to take all three points.
