Portstewart v Wakehurst

Ladbrokes.com Championship 2
Sat 24th Mar - 3:00pm
L
2-1
C Gregg
The opening fifteen minutes of the game produced little action with neither keeper tested. It was Wakehurst with the first goal scoring opportunity on 20 minutes with Conor Gregg through with only the keeper to beat but Madison cleared well with his feet.

Portstewart's one and only effort of the half came on 35 minutes when Austin tried a long range shot but Maybin held well for Wakehurst.  Peter Stevenson had a chance for Wakehurst on 42 minutes but his shot went just wide of the post bringing to an end a half with few chances for either side but Wakehurst dominating play.

The early period of the second half was dominated by Wakehurst with goal scoring chances going begging but all the goals came in the last ten minutes of the game.

Wakehurst went ahead on 80 minutes with Conor Gregg finishing off a good David Gage cross to give Wakehurst the edge.

On 86 minutes, Portstewart were awarded a penalty for a dubious hand ball in the area and Sam Boylan made no mistake to make it 1-1.

The game looked as if it was heading for a draw when in the last minute a Portstewart free kick taken by Dinsmore from the half way line was misjudged by keeper Marc Maybin and the ball ended up in the back of the net giving Portstewart all three points.
