Wakehurst travelled to Belfast to play Sport and Leisure on Saturday knowing that a win was essential and they did it in style with a convincing 6-2 victory.
Their intentions were clear from the off and Conor Gregg started off what was to be a good day for the Gregg brothers when he opened the scoring on 3 minutes with a great glancing header from a brilliant Lee McCaughern cross.
On 7 minutes, Jason Paul was unlucky when Mark Crawford put him in with a chance but his shot went wide of the post with the keeper beaten.
Sport and Leisure equalised against the run of play on 14 minutes when James Daly had a great run down the right and his inch perfect cross found the head of Gallagher and he made it 1-1. On 21 minutes, Conor Gregg was in the action again but the keeper managed to parry the ball away for what looked like a certain goal.
A free to Wakehurst on 26 minutes produced a great header from Ciaran Lemon which the keeper was lucky to hold. It was all Wakehurst and on 32 minutes, Darren Munster made a great goalline clearance to deny Conor Gregg again.
Conor Gregg finally got his and Wakehurst's second on 38 minutes when he intercepted a back pass and made no mistake to make it 2-1 to Wakehurst.
Wakehurst finished the half in style when Douglas Stevenson played a great ball out of defence to Conor Gregg who cleverly lobbed the advancing keeper and Jason Paul was on hand to head the ball in to the empty net to make it 3-1 at half time.
Sport and Leisure had it all to do in the second half but Wakehurst were determined and David Gage blocked a good effort from Kavanagh in the opening minutes of the half.
On 60 minutes, Wakehurst got their fourth when Ryan Gregg picked the ball up in midfield, he left his marker stranded and from 20 yards hit a brilliant strike into the bottom corner.
Conor Gregg had a great run on 65 minutes beating three defenders and was unlucky to see the keeper turn the ball round the post for a corner.
Conor Gregg got his hat trick on 70 minutes when he beat the off side trap and with only the keeper to beat he made no mistake to make it 5-1.
Sport and Leisure got a consolation goal on 75 minutes when a rare lapse in concentration allowed Gallaher to get his second to make it 5-2.
However, Wakehurst were not finished and they made their day complete when Lee McCaughern made it 6-2 on 85 minutes for a well deserved win.
