Wakehurst played out a 1-1 draw with Armagh City on Saturday at Mill Meadow and welcomed back from injury Roy Colville and Douglas Stevenson.
Wakehurst started the better and on 8 minutes a free kick from Lee McCaughern put the Armagh defence under pressure. On 12 minutes, Stephen Mellon provided the vital pass for Jason Paul but the keeper managed to hold. T
he Armagh keeper could do nothing with an inch perfect Lee McCaughern free kick on 14 minutes and Jason Paul was on hand to head the ball home to make it 1-0 to Wakehurst.
Armagh's first effort on goal came on 16 minutes when Chris Maxwell tried a long range shot but Maybin held well. Lee McCaughern was in the action again on 23 minutes with another free kick but Montgomery cleared for Armagh.
Armagh were awarded a corner on 28 minutes but Norman's header was high and wide without troubling Maybin in the Wakehurst goal. On 40 minutes, Jason Paul should have made it two when he was right through with only the keeper to beat but Morgan made a great save to deny him his second goal.
Wakehurst paid the price on 45 minutes when Armagh equalised when Lemon headed into the top corner to make it 1-1 at half time. Armagh started the second half stronger and had two successive corners in a five minute period but Wakehurst defence cleared well.
On 53 minutes, Conor Gregg had a golden opportunity when he beat the offside trap and deftly went round the advancing keeper only to see an Armagh defender clear on the line. Wakehurst's best effort of the second half came on 72 minutes when the impressive Lee McCaughern was unlucky to see his excellent strike hit the post with the goalkeeper stranded.
On 82 minutes another McCaughern free kick found Jason Paul but his header this time went just wide. Wakehurst finished strongly but just couldnt get the winner with Armagh holding on for the point.
