Wakehurst got an early Christmas present on Saturday with a good 3-1 'home' win against Portstewart giving them three valuable points.
Wakehurst had two successive corners on 16 minutes but didnt trouble the Portstewart defence. On 26 minutes, Portstewart mounted their first serious attack which resulted in a corner but Parson's cross didnt cause any problems for the Wakehurst defence.
On 35 minutes, Jordan Kenny tried a shot from 20 yards but Portstewart keeper Madison held well. At the end of the half, Jason Paul had a couple of good chances to break the deadlock but Portstewart held firm with the teams going in level at half time.
Wakehurst started the second half strongly and Conor Gregg was soon in the action with two early chances, one went wide and the other hit the post.
Wakehurst got the breakthrough on 52 minutes when Ryan Gregg headed in a Lee McCaughern corner to put Wakehurst one nil up.
Four minutes later it was Ryan Gregg again when he got on the end of a Jason Paul cross to put Wakehurst two up and well in command.
It was all Wakehurst and on 65 minutes they sealed the victory when good teamwork by Ryan Gregg and Jason Paul put Jordan Kenny in and he made no mistake to make it 3-0.
On 70 minutes Ryan Gregg almost got his hat trick but the Portstewart keeper made a great save tipping the ball over the bar.
In injury time, Portstewart got a consolation goal when Wakehurst conceded a penalty and Ryan McAllister scored from the spot to make the final score 3-1.
