Wakehurst played out a 1-1 draw with Armagh City on Saturday at Mill Meadow and welcomed back from injury Roy Colville and Douglas Stevenson. 

Wakehurst started the better and on 8 minutes a free kick from Lee McCaughern put the Armagh defence under pressure.  On 12 minutes, Stephen Mellon provided the vital pass for Jason Paul but the keeper managed to hold.  T

he Armagh keeper could do nothing with an inch perfect Lee McCaughern free kick on 14 minutes and Jason Paul was on hand to head the ball home to make it 1-0 to Wakehurst. 

Wakehurst v Sport & Leisure Swifts

Wakehurst returned to league action on Saturday earning a 2-2 draw with Sport and Leisure at Castledawson after a two week break with no matches.  They were missing a number of  senior players through injury giving new signing Ryan Young the opportunity to make his full debut. 

Wakehurst were slow to start and were punished on 3 minutes when Darren Gallagher scored for Sport and Leisure to give them the early edge. 

Wakehurst came back strongly and on 12 minutes were on level terms when Conor Gregg equalised after good work by Jason Paul.

Wakehurst played Moyola Park on Saturday and came out the wrong side of a five goal match, losing 3-2. 

It was a game of two halves with Wakehurst dominating the first without getting the goals to show for it.  From the start it was all Wakehurst and Lee McCaughern and Roy Colville both came close in the opening five minutes. 

Linfield Swifts v Wakehurst

Wakehurst were knocked out of the Intermediate Cup on Saturday suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Linfield Swifts in a game dominated by bizarre refereeing decisions.

Wakehurst found themselves one down from the kick off when Swifts no.10 broke on the left and Marc Maybin's first touch of the ball was to pick it out of the net. 

Not the start Wakehurst wanted and in the opening period it was all Linfield and on 25 minutes they got their second when their centre forward rose above the Wakehurst defence to head in at the back post.

Wakehurst got an early Christmas present on Saturday with a good 3-1 'home' win against Portstewart giving them three valuable points. 

Wakehurst had two successive corners on 16 minutes but didnt trouble the Portstewart defence.  On 26 minutes, Portstewart mounted their first serious attack which resulted in a corner but Parson's cross didnt cause any problems for the Wakehurst defence.

Wakehurst players wore black armbands and observed a minute's silence in memory of their former President, Mr Bobby Cooper who died during the week.  All associated with the club extend their sympathy to Bobby's wife, Betty, daughter Linda and son Rodney and wider family circle at this sad time.

Wakehurst returned to winning form on Saturday with a thumping 4-0 away win against the PSNI. 

Wakehurst started well and went ahead on 10 minutes when Jason Paul scored his first of the day when he slotted into the bottom corner from 20 yards leaving the PSNI keeper flat footed. 

PSNI's first attack came on 17 minutes but Marc Maybin held well from the Forsythe corner.

An understrength Wakehurst side suffered their third league defeat in a row when they were beaten 2-0 by Knockbreda at Mill Meadow on Saturday.

Wakehurst were slow to start and in the opening period Knockbreda had more of the play and the pressure paid off on 19 minutes when Stephen Garrett was brought down by Marc Maybin and Paul Mateer made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 1-0 to Knockbreda.

Wakehurst played league challengers Dundela on Saturday and were beaten 5-2 in another highly entertaining game at Mill Meadow. 

As in previous games Wakehurst dominated large periods of the game but when they got their nose in front were unable to capitalise. 

Dundela opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Marc Maybin made a mistake at his near post and the ball ended up in the back of the net to make it one nil to Dundela.
